First Day of Homeschool!

First day of school!
First day of school!

We launched into our new year yesterday! The day didn’t go as well as I hoped it would, but I stopped to pray out loud as soon as things started to get crazy and that seemed to help settle everyone down. I also had to remind myself often that character training is more important than getting the books done at this point. With so many little people my day fills up quickly with correction and character training.

Making first day of school signs.

We started at about 9:00 this morning, taking about an 1.5 hour break for lunch and playing outside. Then the littles went down for a nap and I was able to sit down with my 6 year old to do his phonics and reading with him, which took about 30 minutes. I read our science for the day aloud while the boys folded diapers and that ended our “school” work at about 2:15. Then we had some quiet time where the kids could read books or just lay in bed.

I was pleased with how the day went, MFW is simple yet just enough that they learn and are excited about it. Can’t wait to see what is in store for us tomorrow!
