Christmas Plans

I have had a very busy December! So busy in fact, that this blog has gotten shoved to the side and my time has been spent on other things.

Over Thanksgiving, we visited some family in New Mexico, and then we were back in Colorado for a week. I was able to get in one week of school with the kids and then we left again to visit some friends in Wyoming. It was a wonderful visit. They are dear friends who love the Lord and we really enjoy spending time with them.

Crazy house full of kids!

After a week in Wyoming, we are back in Colorado. My husband has been off of work for 3 weeks now, but he is very busy ready and preparing for his Winterim class coming up at the beginning of January. As soon as he finishes that class, he begins another online class for the spring semester and hopefully by then his work will be starting up again also.

Most kids are off of school this week due to Christmas vacation. We are not. We have taken so much time off in the last few months that I decided we would persevere and squeeze in one more week before we take off a week for Christmas. We are still busy with Christmas crafts and fun, along with our normal schooling.

Today we made “gingerbread” houses, using graham crackers in place of the gingerbread. I made some royal icing and we used it to stick the pieces for our houses together. Then we added gum drops, candy canes, licorice, mints, coconut and jelly beans to decorate them. The kids had such a great time. I think Kaydence got more candy in her tummy than on her house.

We had our family Christmas tonight so that the kids could enjoy the gifts we got them for a few days before we leave to stay at Grandma and Grandpa’s house for the weekend.

The rest of our plans for the week include making and decorating Christmas cookies on Thursday, then Friday morning we will have Christmas brunch with my family and then go to my in-laws to have Christmas with my husbands side of the family. Those Christmas celebrations take 3 days, but they are so full of fun and fellowship!

I love this time of year when we can focus on Jesus Christ. I am amazed that God would send us such a wonderful gift in His son, and that Christ would leave his throne above to come down to die for sinners like me. I am so undeserving of God’s mercy and grace, yet his gives it freely to those who will repent and put their trust in Jesus and his work on the cross. Praise God for his kindness!

Merry Christmas!
